How to install Freqtrade on Ubuntu 20.04
To setup a GNU/Linux server first, see our previous article here.
Now, it’s time to install Freqtrade, the algo trading software we’re going to be using.
Login to your server with the newly created user you have set up, then type in these commands one by one:
$ git clone https://github.com/freqtrade/freqtrade $ cd freqtrade/build_helpers/ta-lib $ tar xvzf ta-lib-0.4.0-src.tar.gz $ sudo apt-get install python3 python-dev python3-dev build-essential libssl-dev libffi-dev libxml2-dev libxslt1-dev zlib1g-dev python-pip $ sudo pip3 install setuptools $ sed -i.bak "s|0.00000001|0.000000000000000001 |g" src/ta_func/ta_utility.h $ ./configure –prefix=/usr/local $ make $ sudo make install $ cd ~/freqtrade $ ./setup.sh –install
When prompted, press Ctrl+C to cancel the installation of Python. It will then proceed to compile and finish installing whatever else is required. Make sure to press “y” to all questions during the installation.
$ pip3 install --user -r requirements.txt $ pip3 install --user -e .
After this, freqtrade should be ready to go. You can run it by getting into its directory and launching it:
$ cd ~/freqtrade $ freqtrade
Make sure to properly configure config.json, take a look at config_full.json.example to see all the possible parameters. In our next article, we will be covering the trading strategies you can use!
